We understand that both Coaching and Reiki are new to many of you. While Coaching is somewhat new as a whole, Reiki has been around for over a hundred years. Either way, they may be new to you, so here are some Frequently Asked Questions that can help you decide if either is right for you.
What is life coaching? Sessions with a life coach allow the client to receive tips on how to better their life, but more importantly holds the client accountable to implement those changes. At Rise Anew, our focus is helping the client to reduce stress and find peace in their lives.
What is the difference between a therapist and a coach? A therapist works with you on personality and mental disorders. They approach your situation medically and often help to repair issues from your past. A coach simply helps you set goals to improve your life going forward.
Should I see a therapist or a coach? Life coaching should never replace therapy for an illness; however, can compliment therapy. At Rise Anew, it is required that if you are currently in therapy that you receive consent from your therapist prior to adding coaching to your treatment plan.
What is a Nutrition Coach? Sessions with a nutrition coach allow the client to receive tips on how to better their health, but more importantly holds the client accountable to implement those changes. At Rise Anew, our focus is helping the client to reduce stress and find peace in their lives. Nutrition is incorporated into life coaching because eating the right foods allows our body to handle stress better.
What is the difference between a Nutritionist, Dietitian, and Nutrition Coach? A nutritionist has a four-year degree and is required to hold certification allowing them to provide nutritional information to clients. A dietitian also holds the same degree. A dietitian is also required to put in clinical hours and holds a separate certification that allows them to prescribe certain diets to treat medical conditions. A nutrition coach is not required to hold a coaching certification, though Rise Anew coaches do. Much like a personal trainer, nutrition coaches help to hold clients accountable to maintain a healthy diet, and provide tips to do so.
Should I see a Doctor, Dietitian, or Nutrition Coach? If you are dealing with a medical issue, you should see a doctor or dietitian. Nutrition coaches can only provide tips for maintaining a healthy diet for otherwise healthy people. At Rise Anew, it is required that if you are currently under a doctor’s or dietitian’s care for a serious illness that you receive consent from your doctor prior to adding coaching to your treatment plan.
What is Reiki? Reiki is a very old Japanese relaxation technique. The word broken down is Universal Life (Rei) Energy (ki). Ki is the same as Chi, which many more people are familiar with. Reiki helps with reduction of stress by balancing and clearing the energies in our bodies. The general technique is to place hands above or onto the body in specific areas, allowing the life energy to flow to the client and help their body heal in whichever way is best for them.
What are the benefits of Reiki? Reiki allows the client’s body to reduce stress. Reduction of stress can allow the client’s body to heal however is best for the client. It is known to reduce stress, allow people to handle life’s stresses better, give focus, help anxiety, clear old blockages (allows tears to flow during or after treatment), better sleep, find calm, and aide in helping to relieve pain or symptoms of disease with an underlying cause of stress. How Reiki will affect each client is not guaranteed as it reduces the stress in their body so they (or their body) can do what is best for them as an individual.
What does Reiki feel like? How Reiki is received and felt is different for each person and further, different with each treatment. Some feelings I and/or my clients have had during treatment are warmth, comfort, cold, strands of electricity (like electrical stimulation), peace, energy left in place after I move to a different area, instant muscle release, and reduction of pain. Some don’t feel anything during the treatment, but notice the benefits the following day (see benefits above).
How does it work? We don’t know how it works, only that it does. Scientifically speaking, we are all made of energy. Reiki simply helps to balance it out when it gets off due to emotions, stress, and life in general.
Where’s the proof? Dr. Oz talks about the benefits of Reiki and knows first hand as his wife is a practitioner. Harvard has done a large scale study showing that Reiki benefited people with just one treatment.
What is Distance Reiki? Level 2 and Master practitioners are trained to work the energy with intention and are trained to send the energy through distance. We use this the energy to you, wherever you are, and to give a session just as we would if you were in our office.
Who is Distance Reiki good for? Distance Reiki is good when you can’t leave the home, are too busy to make an in-person appointment, are too busy to sit still for the hour, or are in a different location from your preferred practitioner.
Where can I set up an appointment? You can schedule HERE 🙂
